Quarrel

Today, I started mapping out my plans for packing up things for my journey.

First I started with a list of things I cannot afford to lose, like important legal documents.

Then things I cannot afford to replace, as they still served me well.

Finally, the things that ensure I can leave the house feeling energetic in the morning and go to bed feeling relaxed.

Every other thing can be thrown into the vehicle with reckless abandon.

My wife prefers arranging everything according to the room they’re from, but I’m the one doing the packing this time.

There will be plenty searching for things in the future. Plenty of “Zazu, you should have left everything for me.” But I have found that searching also helps us declutter.

I am thankful for quarrels consciously designed to happen in the future. Just thinking about this one makes me smile.
