All lawful battles between family and friends should preferably be handled privately. Any public square battle ends in a pyrrhic victory, at best.
Those that know better, deal with their differences privately. Such differences are easier to reconcile, because trust remains intact.
When feuds go public, people pick sides and you start actively courting supporters. Cheap popularity.
You desire more people to make sense of your stand. Vanity metric.
Now you have even more people that will feel betrayed if you ever reconcile, without their permission. Needless pressure.
All battles bring pyrrhic victories. Enter them knowing this.
