Good Principles

I know a good driver – Solomon Nok. The only person I can dose off in a car while he is on the wheels.

He reminds me of my father, the best driver I have ever known.

The thing is I still get frustrated with him.

Why?

Whenever I am late for an event and I would prefer to have a formula one driver, he is unmoved by my anxiety. He keeps to his defensive driving training. This raises my anxiety and sometimes turns it into anger, but I do not change him because I know he is doing the right thing, and I am safer with him.

Most times, I do not arrive late to the event, in spite of my anxiety and anger.

When we do arrive late, it is usually because there was a situation that even reckless driving would not have helped.

The purpose of this writing is not a celebration of Solomon, who is always celebrated.

The purpose of this writing is to show how sticking to good principles, especially when everything in and around you is screaming shortcuts, is always wise.
