You deserve it
This a a red flag for me.
When someone tells me, “you deserve that promotion” or “you deserve to be in this room”, I am immediately wary of them.
It is usually a signal that they talk to people that don’t think I should be getting that promotion or be in that room. Worse still, it is an indicator that what they are saying is not actually the thought they hold.
By the way, more or less, I do not get what I deserve.
