The Hero Mindset

“The hero mindset … we convince ourselves that we’re sacrificing to protecting others from getting hurt .. yet we fail to realize we’re enabling them to live a lie. We also fail to realize that we’re protecting ourselves from the consequences of the pain we’d reveal.” – Shane Parrish

Insightful. Guilty as charged.

After reflecting on Shane’s words, I could see areas in which my intervention was causing more harm than help.

Sometimes, the best thing to do is to allow life take its course, so we do not miss the lesson being taught and unwittingly become unprepared for the next phase.

Receive an understanding of self

Matthew 7:6, 12-14
“Do not give dogs what is holy; and do not throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under foot and turn to attack you.
So whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them; for this is the law and the prophets.
“Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.
For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

Homily:

Only One but you, knows your true value – God. Giving all of you to anyone but Him devalues who you are.

Give self to Him and you will receive an understanding of self (you will receive self).

It is not easy to give all of self away, but that is the way to find all of self. Few find self. Few find peace. Few find freedom. Few find joy. Few find nothing.
