Simple

Simple is simultaneously the hardest and easiest thing to do.

The more I read, the more I see that simple rules (also called first principles) in any field endure, yet are hard to consistently apply.

Look at health, wealth, spirituality or creativity. What they all boil down to, is clutter reduction. Clutter that was brought in by us in the first place.

The habits/processes of “successful” people/institutions are easily overlooked, because they are so simple and available.

We have a penchant for treasure hunts and so we romanticize the complicated, the difficult, the complex, because we rate being busy above being productive.

Simplicity has a lot of “nothing” within. Doing what is necessary with velocity, and then doing nothing for longer periods. The times of nothing are periods of compounding – a simple rule.

To be fair, we all arrive at simplicity, ultimately.

My faith

Psalms 16:1-2, 5, 7-8, 11
Preserve me, O God, for in thee I take refuge.
I say to the LORD, “Thou art my Lord; I have no good apart from thee.”
The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; thou holdest my lot.
I bless the LORD who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me.
I keep the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
Thou dost show me the path of life; in thy presence there is fulness of joy, in thy right hand are pleasures for evermore.

Homily:

I have found peace in my faith. My faith in God. That peace has given me the freedom to be, with joy.
