An advice worth remembering

Sirach 3:17-18, 20, 28-29
My son, perform your tasks in meekness; then you will be loved by those whom God accepts.
The greater you are, the more you must humble yourself; so you will find favor in the sight of the Lord.
For great is the might of the Lord; he is glorified by the humble.
The affliction of the proud has no healing, for a plant of wickedness has taken root in him.
The mind of the intelligent man will ponder a parable, and an attentive ear is the wise man’s desire.

Homily:

An advice worth remembering on humility.

Depression

It is easier to hold back tears, than to hold back laughter.

If people are suffering, there are many masks available, because to each his own. You need to patiently stand by them to notice what is really underneath, when the mask gets uncomfortable.

If people are happy, no mask is available, because no mask is required. You will see it. If you doubt what you see, then there’s a mask, and that means you need to patiently stand by them to notice what is really underneath, when the mask gets uncomfortable.

This is why it is very easy to miss depression in those dear to us, especially in those that wear the mask of calm or the mask of humour.
