On hunger
Most times, we’re not hungry, we’re only bored.
Work
Your work is a reflection of your love.
A quote from a General
Leadership is solving problems. The day soldiers stop bringing you their problems is the day you have stopped leading them. They have either lost confidence that you can help or concluded you do not care. – Colin Powell
Connect
That is all we do.
An entity connects with another and calls it communication.
A town connects with another and calls it transportation.
A human connects with self and calls it meditation.
A person connects with an idea and calls it inspiration.
A product connects with a customer and calls it distribution.
An institution connects with its people and calls it motivation.
A speaker connects with the crowd and calls it storytelling.
A god connects with its people and calls it spirituality.
A process connects with a result and calls it systems.
A world connects and calls it internet.
Perception
2 people might run the same distance, at the same time, on the same terrain and still have different interpretations of the journey.
Public Speaking
Let me share some of the prompts I use during public speaking –
Gossip: One of the strongest tools in public speaking is to speak like you’re gossiping with a friend.
Imagine everyone is naked: I learnt this from …. it actually helps you smile at the awkwardness.
Focus on the least threatening people: The ones people are not focussed on. They will give you cues on your pacing, because they are less sophisticated in masking emotions.
Build your vocabulary: Words can save you when you go blank.
Anecdotes: There is always a story from your life or from the room that relates to your topic.
Humor: Tell a joke related to a popular real time event. Something all can connect to.
Ask
There are many tools that can be prescribed to aid asking, but there is a simple way – ask with sincerity and curiosity, and you will get the truth.
If you do not care or you care only for self, people will see through your questions and protect themselves.
Only ask when you care to know.
