A prayer

1 Timothy 2:1-6
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life, godly and respectful in every way.
This is good, and it is acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, the testimony to which was borne at the proper time.

Homily:

Dear Lord, I pray that I live a quiet and peaceable life, godly and respectful in every way, through Jesus Christ, your Son and my Saviour, Amen.

A Jamaican Proverb

“Wanty wanty cyaan getty an’ getty getty nuh wanty”

The above Jamaican proverb was shared with me by a friend and it represents the oxymoron of life.

It literally means those who desire a thing the most, do not get it and those who have a thing the most, do not desire it.

It made me think of happiness and a quote, “questionably” attributed to Henry David Thoreau –

“Happiness is like a butterfly.
The more you chase it, the more it eludes you.
But if you turn your attention to other things,
It comes and sits softly on your shoulder.”

What you desire, makes you ignore what you have.
What you have, holds the seeds to all you desire.
