Who belongs to the devil?

Wisdom 2:23-24
When God created us, he did not intend for us to die; he made us like himself. It was the Devil’s jealousy that brought death into the world, and those who belong to the Devil are the ones who will die.

Homily:

Who belongs to the devil?

“Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister.” – 1 John 3:7-10

“Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me. Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.” – John 8:42-47

Gifts

Gifts are signals.

I thought of you and got this as a sign to you that when your thought comes to mind, it brings me joy.

Take this as a way of sharing in that joy.

The sacrifice made in getting the gift can never be known, even with a “cheap” gift.

I received a pencil today, from a child that I have come to call friend. He said he thought to give me a pencil, because he noticed that I do not have one. I do not need a pencil, but it is the best gift I have received this year.

Thank you, Chuks.
