Hunger

2 Thessalonians 3:7-12
For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us; we were not idle when we were with you, we did not eat any one’s bread without paying, but with toil and labor we worked night and day, that we might not burden any of you.
It was not because we have not that right, but to give you in our conduct an example to imitate.
For even when we were with you, we gave you this command: If any one will not work, let him not eat.
For we hear that some of you are living in idleness, mere busybodies, not doing any work.
Now such persons we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work in quietness and to earn their own living.

Homily:

If any one will not work, let him not eat.

“The appetite of laborers works for them; their hunger drives them on.” – Proverbs 16:26

Anger

Anger is a limiting emotion.

No matter what it helps me achieve, it limits me.

I have experienced it in my life. I have used anger as a catalyst to accelerate action.

But anger burns, not just in itself, but the beholder.

I have been working on my anger. The first step for me was to limit the spread. How? No word, no action, as long as anger is present.

To do this, I must pay attention to my mood and either rein myself in or distract myself immediately I notice anger. One distraction that helps, is talking to someone that brings me joy. Someone that will make me notice that my mood is at odds with what the person brings.

Anger is a limiting emotion. It is short term and short sighted.

I am working on putting it under my control.
