Ratio of irreversible to reversible

The ratio of irreversible to reversible decisions you make is directly linked to your hierarchy of control.

The more irreversible decisions you make, the more in control you feel.
The more reversible decisions you make, the less in control you feel.

A control freak is just a person with an inordinate desire to make irreversible decisions.

An indecisive person is just a person with an inordinate desire to make reversible decisions.

In organisations, as you travel up the hierarchy, the ratio tilts in favour of high irreversible decision making, calling for caution on the part of leaders to actively seek reversible decisions, that can help keep them in balance and away from the allure of being a control freak.

For those at the bottom of the hierarchy, saddled with lots of reversible decision making, the willingness to embrace irreversible decision making is a distinguishing factor that acts as a ladder.

This is still an observation in its early stages for me. I will explore further.

He calls

1 Samuel 3:1-10, 19-20
Now the boy Samuel was ministering to the LORD under Eli. And the word of the LORD was rare in those days; there was no frequent vision. At that time Eli, whose eyesight had begun to grow dim, so that he could not see, was lying down in his own place; the lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down within the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was. Then the LORD called, “Samuel! Samuel!” and he said, “Here I am!” and ran to Eli, and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” But he said, “I did not call; lie down again.” So he went and lay down. And the LORD called again, “Samuel!” And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” But he said, “I did not call, my son; lie down again.” Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, and the word of the LORD had not yet been revealed to him. And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” Then Eli perceived that the LORD was calling the boy. Therefore Eli said to Samuel, “Go, lie down; and if he calls you, you shall say, `Speak, LORD, for thy servant hears.'” So Samuel went and lay down in his place. And the LORD came and stood forth, calling as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel said, “Speak, for thy servant hears.” And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground. And all Israel from Dan to Beer-sheba knew that Samuel was established as a prophet of the LORD.

Homily:

The Lord calls. Even when we do not understand. He calls.

The people we surround ourselves with, can nudge us to answer His call or ignore it.

Dear Lord, help me with the presence of mind to hear Your call and surround me with people after your heart, tha will nudge me to answer.
