Go there

When that smile no longer brings joy.
When that place no longer holds treasured memories.
When that meal no longer makes your mouth to water.
When that touch no longer soothes.
When that thought no longer triggers action.

Nothing in that smile, that place, that meal, that touch or that thought has changed.

Something in you has changed.

What smile now brings joy?
What place now holds treasured memories?
What meal now makes your mouth water?
What touch soothes?
What thought triggers action?

Go there. Embrace it. And maybe, you will find, you are not so lost after all.

Act of Contrition

Psalms 51:1-4, 16-17
Have mercy on me, O God, according to thy steadfast love; according to thy abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done that which is evil in thy sight, so that thou art justified in thy sentence and blameless in thy judgment. For thou hast no delight in sacrifice; were I to give a burnt offering, thou wouldst not be pleased. The sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

Homily:

“O my God, I am sorry for my sins because I have offended you. I know I should love you above all things. Help me to do penance, to do better, and to avoid anything that might lead me to sin. Amen.”
