Politics

The only time people say, “I don’t play politics” is when they have the short end of the stick.

We all play politics. It is a feature of social animals.

The “I don’t play politics” people are actually the most dangerous people. They are playing dirty politics, trying to hoodwink you into dropping your guard and make those winning look bad. You then prematurely trust them and not too long after, they strike. Cold blooded killers.

Political agility is a strength in leadership. Anyone that makes you feel insulted by saying you play politics is actually losing. No need to suck in their negative energy. Ignore them.

Do your work and actively use your connections as leverage, to ensure your work is more widely seen and acknowledged. That is politics. Make it work for you.

Unique

Matthew 5:43-48
“You have heard that it was said, `You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you salute only your brethren, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Homily:

Your actions are a reflection of who you are, not who they are.

You might assume that you are better than your actions and blame your poor behaviour on the circumstances or people around you, but it is not true.

A caring person cares. A loving person loves. Period.

Take those circumstances and people that bring out who you think you are not, as golden opportunities to see parts of you that have been hidden, and work to live according to your values.

You are not your circumstance. You are not the people around you. You are you, unique.

You always have it within your control to choose your action and reaction. Always.

Choose love.
