An itch

An itch is a sign of healing and positive growth, when recovering from an injury.

The difficulty is in noticing it, without resisting it by scratching. Scratching might bring temporary pleasure, but it delays healing and can open up new sores.

In every relationship that is undergoing healing, there is always a niggling itch. An unresolved question. Digging in to see what it unearths, will only open up new hurts and delay healing. There are many things you have to notice, acknowledge and embrace in the process of healing.

There is discomfort in healing, because those that profit from the sore, need you to get used to seeing an open wound.

Accept an itch or two during healing, it will pass.

His word and your faith

John 4:46-54
So he came again to Cana in Galilee, where he had made the water wine. And at Caper’na-um there was an official whose son was ill. When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went and begged him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. Jesus therefore said to him, “Unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe.” The official said to him, “Sir, come down before my child dies.” Jesus said to him, “Go; your son will live.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and went his way. As he was going down, his servants met him and told him that his son was living. So he asked them the hour when he began to mend, and they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.” The father knew that was the hour when Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live”; and he himself believed, and all his household. This was now the second sign that Jesus did when he had come from Judea to Galilee.

Homily:

This official had a single-minded purpose and nothing said was going to change his request. He wanted the healing of his child, for he could not bear a loss.

Jesus on the other hand saw it as an opportunity to teach. While the official wanted hHs presence as a symbol of healing, He wanted to show the official that all that was required was his word and the official’s faith.

The official’s faith in the words, “Go, your son will live”, was his miracle.

Jesus knew that he would not be physically manifested to all generations at all times, but his words will remain ever present. And as we believe in his word, the word becomes flesh in our lives

Stop waiting for signs and wonders to believe. His word is with you always. Bring it to life and it will nourish you eternally.
