Retrace

No matter how far gone you are on the wrong path, the best time to retrace your steps is now. The regret you feel for being on a path is a prompt that you can do something about it. You are still alive. There is always an alternative.

Go back to the beginning and with the knowledge of the attractions and distractions that made you choose the wrong path, choose an alternative that will serve you. You might not be able to go very far on the new path, but no matter where you end, it will be on the path you wanted to be found.

I leave judgment to you

Jeremiah 11:18-20
The LORD made it known to me and I knew; then thou didst show me their evil deeds. But I was like a gentle lamb led to the slaughter. I did not know it was against me they devised schemes, saying, “Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name be remembered no more.” But, O LORD of hosts, who judgest righteously, who triest the heart and the mind, let me see thy vengeance upon them, for to thee have I committed my cause.

Homily:

Dear Lord, I have tried to resolve all hurt with time, space, logic and forgiveness. It has made some people see me as weak and vulnerable. I will not contend with those that actively seek to harm me, not because I cannot, but because it will drag me into sin. I leave judgment to you.

They reason unsoundly

Wisdom 2:1, 12-22
For they reasoned unsoundly, saying to themselves, “Short and sorrowful is our life, and there is no remedy when a man comes to his end, and no one has been known to return from Hades. “Let us lie in wait for the righteous man, because he is inconvenient to us and opposes our actions; he reproaches us for sins against the law, and accuses us of sins against our training. He professes to have knowledge of God, and calls himself a child of the Lord. He became to us a reproof of our thoughts; the very sight of him is a burden to us, because his manner of life is unlike that of others, and his ways are strange. We are considered by him as something base, and he avoids our ways as unclean; he calls the last end of the righteous happy, and boasts that God is his father. Let us see if his words are true, and let us test what will happen at the end of his life; for if the righteous man is God’s son, he will help him, and will deliver him from the hand of his adversaries. Let us test him with insult and torture, that we may find out how gentle he is, and make trial of his forbearance. Let us condemn him to a shameful death, for, according to what he says, he will be protected.” Thus they reasoned, but they were led astray, for their wickedness blinded them, and they did not know the secret purposes of God, nor hope for the wages of holiness, nor discern the prize for blameless souls

Homily:

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28

As we cannot know the hearts of men, we walk with Psalm 91.

Life

A tale of covid-19.

We want normalcy to return, even though we do not know what normal looks like. Normal for us now, is anything without a pandemic. Those that live with the threat of death daily, chuckle at our naivety.

We want the good old days back. The days we scorned and wished away, while seeking these days. Those days are only good because we cannot have them.

We want this pandemic to end, even though we are going through it differently.

Covid-19 is here to stay, as a part of our new normal. We will have to adapt to it and keep going. The sooner, the better.
