Body, mind and spirit must agree as one, to be whole.
One way to bring all into agreement is to discipline what is immediately obvious – the body.
Just as it is impossible to have a peeing section of a swimming pool and expect other parts of the pool to remain hygienic, it is impossible to destroy the body and expect the mind and spirit to thrive.
I have an issue with gurus that de-emphasise the body and promote allowing it to waste away. It is a self-limiting approach, because no mind or spirit can long carry on, without a well nurtured body.
Discipline your body. Learn what works and what doesn’t work for your body and apply that knowledge consciously. Your body gives immediate cues such as inflammation, indigestion, flatulence, rashes, weakness, itching and many others you can notice if you pay attention. Avoid what the body rejects, embrace what your body accepts and leave the table before you’re full.
When the body is out of tune, the mind is all over the place and the spirit is silenced.
When the body is well tuned, the mind is calm and the spirit takes control.
