Mind the steps

Pay attention to the stairs if you are new to it, lest you trip and fall. Forget the landing at the top or the bottom, pay attention to the next step you need to take. You will arrive at the landing, whole, only if you pay attention to each step along the way.

There are many people that seem to glide through the stairs, “effortlessly”, without missing a beat. Good. But those people have been on those stairs for a much longer time and they have made many more mistakes while climbing, than you will ever know. They can afford to move 2 or 3 steps at a time without missing a beat. That is them. You are you. Give yourself time.

Mind the steps.

On any journey of learning or endeavor, pay attention to what is in front of you and take it one step at a time. Do not be distracted by those that seem to have shortcuts or seem to do it effortlessly.

If you do not take the pains to work each step now, you might need to be carried up or down the stairs soon. Then, no matter how kind your bearer is, you will just be a burden, and you will have no control over how fast you go.

Mind the steps.

Be patient with each step. You are learning. And one day, I do not know the day, but you will, you will find that your movement on the stairs has become “effortless”. On that day, please be patient with others that are new to the stairs. And remind them – mind the steps.

His manifestation

Luke 24:35-48
Then they told what had happened on the road, and how he was known to them in the breaking of the bread. As they were saying this, Jesus himself stood among them. But they were startled and frightened, and supposed that they saw a spirit. And he said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do questionings rise in your hearts? See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself; handle me, and see; for a spirit has not flesh and bones as you see that I have.” And while they still disbelieved for joy, and wondered, he said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?” They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and ate before them. Then he said to them, “These are my words which I spoke to you, while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilled.” Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.

Homily:

What will you do if a dear loved one that has passed on, re-appears to you?

As we believe in the resurrection, what will you do if you actually experience a resurrection?

The reaction of the apostles was not surprising. What was surprising was the fact that they did not run away. Maybe because they had gotten some heads up from others about the resurrection. Or maybe because the manifestation was strange, yet familiar.

Have you had an encounter with Jesus since his resurrection?
If yes, what was it like?
If no, where have you been?

Jesus is manifested in your neighbor and in you.

If you are not yet marveled, you are not paying attention.
