Even love

If people stay with you long enough, they learn how to manipulate or persuade you.

Those that act like they do not know how to, choose not to. They decide it is not worth the trouble.

Even children with limited resources, quickly learn what works and what doesn’t with their guardians.

The problem in most relationships is not a lack of knowledge of what influences the other person, it is an unwillingness to do it, for some reasons – justifiable or not.

People show you who they are. Many times, they even say it in plain language. Whenever there is high friction in a relationship, it is because in spite of knowing who the other person is, we treat them like who they are not.

Many relationships break down because one party was consciously approaching the other based on who they want them to be, not based on who they are.

There is wisdom in being with the kind of people that flourishes with what you have to offer, not the people that need to change to accommodate what you have to offer. Even love does not cover for such a gap.

Symbols

Psalms 115:3-8
Our God is in the heavens; he does whatever he pleases. Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands. They have mouths, but do not speak; eyes, but do not see. They have ears, but do not hear; noses, but do not smell. They have hands, but do not feel; feet, but do not walk; and they do not make a sound in their throat. Those who make them are like them; so are all who trust in them.

Homily:

We create in our image and likeness. Nothing proceeds from us that has no roots in us.

The gods we create in our lives are no different.

Whenever a people feel God is distant, they substitute with a god.

We prioritize symbols over substance.

Humankind needs to get comfortable with the fact that God is not and cannot be housed in anything created by His creation.
