When anyone engages you, they expect a confirmation of a bias.
No one engages you on a blank slate.
Yet with that knowledge, people go ahead to confirm the bias, even when the bias is against them.
We all have the opportunity to form a new impression, one engagement at a time, and it starts with you defining the bias you want to be confirmed, and then living it, daily.
When people encounter a reality that disproves their bias, they form a new bias that accentuates reality. You can choose the bias that is perpetuated within those you engage.

Sacred writings
2 Timothy 3:14-17
But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings which are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
Homily:
“All scripture is inspired by God”
Not just the ones we like.
Not just the ones that bless us.
Not just the ones that speak of our victory.
Not just the inspiring ones.
The ones that make us uncomfortable are just as inspired by God as the ones that add a spring to our step.
And they were all written for our growth.
