Simple, complicated and complex

Luke 11:24 – 26
“When the unclean spirit has gone out of a man, he passes through waterless places seeking rest; and finding none he says, `I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes he finds it swept and put in order. Then he goes and brings seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first.”

Homily:

I have found this to be true in simple things.

After a long cleansing fast, you are more likely to fall deeply into a poor dietary pattern, worse than you were before the fast.

After a long revolutionary journey, you are more likely to see the liberated become worse oppressors than the oppressors they overthrew.

After a long healing phase from depression, you are more likely to fall even deeper into an endless pit of despair with a little trigger.

Life is like that. Simple, complicated and complex.

If nature teaches us anything, it is this – the most enduring gains come to the small, slow and steady.

Start small, give growth time and prioritise consistency.
