Advice

I have gotten some pretty good advice from people still struggling to figure out a way out of the situation I am in.

They know what to do, but for reasons beyond understanding, they cannot follow through. They struggle with consistency, but they know what works. They cheer you on, because they know it works, and want to see you succeed.

Waiting to get advice only from people that are perfect examples of the advice you need, is a wait that might end up being so long, you might as well never have lived.

If you get close enough to anyone, you will find inconsistencies that make them hypocritical. Yet, each individual offers timeless lessons that can help you better own your time.

The advice you need is in the hypocrite beside you, and within you.

The long game

Luke 21:12-19
But before all this they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors for my name’s sake. This will be a time for you to bear testimony. Settle it therefore in your minds, not to meditate beforehand how to answer; for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict. You will be delivered up even by parents and brothers and kinsmen and friends, and some of you they will put to death; you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But not a hair of your head will perish. By your endurance you will gain your lives.

Homily:

The long game is not easy, because it is out of sight. Yet it is more real that what is in view, because our eyes are the easiest sense to fool.

The journey of righteousness has moved from one of being an example to others, to being one to yourself. It has moved from pushing the word out there, to nurturing the word within.

The conflict has moved from one between individuals to self.

How will you approach all things if you knew that in the end you will prevail?

Yes, you will.
