Prioritization

Today, I tried to be in two meetings at the once.

One on my phone and the other on my laptop. The hallmark of a lack of prioritization.

I did not get the best of both worlds, instead, it felt like I was missing out in both worlds.

I realized my error, re-prioritized, said a polite goodbye to one group, and immersed myself in the other.

It felt so much better for the last half hour of the meeting.

I am thankful for the gift of prioritization and its regret-limiting advantage.

Promptness

Promptness is a gateway principle to other principles.

It is foundational to respect, commitment, care and courage.

The most productive people do not have more time, they are just more prompt in execution.

It is hard to differentiate people that need a lot of prompts to execute, from people that do a lot of rework. The two groups of people drain energy from any system they are in.

A hack in self and team development is simply to nurture promptness. As it grows, everything else comes with less friction.
