Shared passions

Today, a colleague returned a book he borrowed, without my having to prompt him.

Usually I treat my books like I treat my money – “If I cannot afford to lose it, I do not lend it.”

I made an exception for this colleague because instead of asking me for a book recommendation, he shared his notes from the books he has enjoyed.

I had a book that I knew would serve him better than it serves my shelf, so I gave him the book without him asking.

He returned the book because he could not wait to share his notes from the read. I gave him the book because I wanted to see his notes on it.

I am thankful for shared passions.

Peaks

The top of a hill helps you see distant lands that can only be reached by leaving the peak.

The highs you reach should help you see farther, so you can move forward with a clearer vision.

Too many times, we fight to remain on peaks because we prioritise seeing over being.

We forget that peaks are cold and lonely, with less oxygen.
