Keep going

Today, I watched some real life half-time team talk videos of some great football coaches. It was not nearly as pretty as what I expected or what you see in the movies.

Many of the young guns that support football clubs and cheer on players, will not be able to survive in such rooms. Damn, I was “shook.”

Forget nice suits, fancy sportswear and suave haircuts. Locker rooms are hotter than boardrooms. Less political, but way more intense.

Even the coaches I always thought were nice guys, go into beastmode in the locker room.

The better you understand any line of work, the more likely you are to hate it. Which is why it takes a healthy dose of innate passion to keep going after staring at the beast.

I am thankful for my job, and the people that make it easier to keep going.

Power

People who desire power become subject to it in a strange form of masochism. They worship and grovel at its feet, yet still get consumed by it.

Those who understand power match it with strength. Strength is a discipline of saying no to all that power demands, and saying yes to what precedes power.

Power takes. Strength gives.

What takes, drains. What gives, refills.
