80% of what is good for you is boring.
In my dating days, every time I asked someone to introduce me to someone, it was always someone who seemed 80% boring. Looking back, my friends and family actually made good choices.
The problem is that I wanted 80% excitement. And I got punished for every one of such choices.
In my investments, the simple no-brainer consistent investment, like interest-bearing savings, has continually outperformed all the exciting fads that come along.
The problem is that I keep getting lured by opportunities for an adrenaline pumping masterstroke. I have now learnt to limit my exposure, since eliminating the urge seems impossible for now.
In my spiritual life, the simple boring act of a fixed schedule for meditation has trumped all other exciting spiritual practices, including travel.
Individuals and cultures that prioritize the boring consistently outperform everyone else.
