Naira

The currency of Nigeria
Too unpredictable to be trusted with your future
So many have tried to rebrand it with words, faces, colour and texture
Yet failing to add extra value to the confused trade enabler

The symbol of our economy
Treated like all infrastructure in this nation of “one chance”
Built and left to the environment for maintenance
The environment makes sure it is bathed daily in ignominy

The unrequited desire of the populace
Enough of it can protect you from many reactions
Too little of it can make you vulnerable to all actions
Its strength is in your lawful lack of choice

Some own it and it owns some
It is the most hardworking slave for its master
And the worst slave driver to its seeker
It is however, loyal to none
