The very concept of security puts the protected at higher risk, and the guardian in a safer spot.
In fact, Security 101 says that to secure a territory or person, the protector must first of all be safe.
This brings me to the concept of bodyguards and the important people they are paid to protect. Who is really in the line of fire? Who is really protected by positioning?
The same questions come up with the concept of ladies first. It sounds novel but it increases the risk exposure of ladies. If you open a door to a room that is rigged with booby traps or cobwebs, who is the bait? The one who is first.
The same applies in investments. Secure investments reduce returns to the investor and increase returns for the guardian of the investment.
By all means, go for security, but go in with your eyes wide open.
