What are you giving?

Luke 6:36-38
Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.
“Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For the measure you give will be the measure you get back.”

Homily:

This is a secret of life. It is laid bare for all to see, in plain language, yet we do not understand.

“For the measure you give will be the measure you get back”.

What are you giving?

We get what we give and if it looks like what you’re getting is not aligned to what you’re giving, you’re not paying attention to self.

Understanding the above secret will mean a total departure from what the world teaches.

We are taught to aim for what we want to “get”, and work towards it. This teaching is a recipe for unhappiness, because it is a wrong sequence.

We start with what we want to get and wonder why it is so hard to get.

We should aim for what we want to “give”, and work towards it.

There is a scary promise from God that follows – “Give, and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap.”

What you give, whether worthy or unworthy will deliver on the above promise.

Pay attention to what you are giving.
