You learn a lot about a place and its people by arriving early or leaving late.
Arriving early helps you gauge the character of those that are to prepare the place and the character of those arriving. It helps you see what things are like before lights, camera, action. It also helps you understand the unique characteristics of each participant. Some bring energy into the room, others drain it.
Leaving late helps you gauge the character of those that participated. The state in which they leave the room is indicative of the value placed on what no longer serves them.
