Wounds heal, but scars remain

Wounds heal, but scars remain.

You cannot wish away scars, but you can build a story of “never again” around them.

Trying to dismiss scars, opens new wounds.

This is the story of Biafra and many other past events we choose to ignore in Nigeria.

There are enough lessons in the world to teach us how to deal with scars.

You know

We know what is best for us. Nothing that is said to us about us comes as a surprise. The biggest surprises actually come from someone describing a part of us accurately. We recognise it and we are shocked that our masks did not work.

We know that the quality of our relationships determine the quality of our lives and that the most important relationship is our relationship with ourselves.

We know that we cannot give what we do not have and that we always have something to give, if we know where to look.

We know ourselves, yet are more true to things than to self.

Take time out today and spend time with yourself. No expectations, just enjoy your own company. Acknowledge all thoughts, all movements, all moods. You are the best and most consistent company you will ever have. Pay attention to your greatest supporter. Pay attention to your greatest destabiliser. Pay attention to you.

In the end, all is 0 or 1. Make whichever you are to count.

Solemnity of Ascension of the Lord

John 16:16-20
“A little while, and you will see me no more; again a little while, and you will see me.”
Some of his disciples said to one another, “What is this that he says to us, `A little while, and you will not see me, and again a little while, and you will see me’; and, `because I go to the Father’?”
They said, “What does he mean by `a little while’? We do not know what he means.”
Jesus knew that they wanted to ask him; so he said to them, “Is this what you are asking yourselves, what I meant by saying, `A little while, and you will not see me, and again a little while, and you will see me’?
Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy.

Homily:

Today is the Solemnity of Ascension of the Lord, Jesus Christ.

His ascension is the completion of our redemption.

But He did not leave us empty, He sent the Paraclete as promised.

Dear God, I ask for the Holy Spirit and the fruits of the Holy Spirit in my life, through Jesus Christ, my Lord and Saviour.
