Matthew 10:7-13
And preach as you go, saying, `The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’
Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying, give without pay.
Take no gold, nor silver, nor copper in your belts, no bag for your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor a staff; for the laborer deserves his food.
And whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy in it, and stay with him until you depart.
As you enter the house, salute it. And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it; but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.

Homily:

What are the things we receive without paying?
Everything that matters.

What are the things we give without pay?
Everything that matters.

In fact, every giving and receiving that is valued in pay, intrinsically diminishes in value.

To buttress it, Jesus advises the disciples to travel without the burden of material possessions that will incline them to desiring more.

To every household that receives His word without a transactional mindset, His peace will come upon it. To every household that receives His word with a transactional mindset, His peace will return.

He has already made the ultimate sacrifice of love, and we did not pay for it.
We are premium beneficiaries. The least we can do, is to show that love to those He brings into our lives, without a transactional mindset.
