High risk, No return

Lending money to family or friends is the most risky financial decision, with no guarantee of return on (or even return of) principal.

Only lend out what you can afford to lose. If the amount is more than you can afford to lose, say No. It will cause temporary discomfort, but nothing compared to the anguish of funds lost forever and the feeling of being suckered.

False prophets

Matthew 7:15-20
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles?
So, every sound tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears evil fruit.
A sound tree cannot bear evil fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.
Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
Thus you will know them by their fruits.

Homily:

You are a prophet to someone.

What is your fruit?

The word of God is not to some distant people at the pulpit or loudspeakers on the street. He speaks to us – You and I.

Our fruits tell the world whose prophet we are.
