Argument, facts and results

I have rarely changed anyone’s mind by arguing with them.

I have changed few people’s mind by presenting researched facts to them.

I have changed more minds by demonstrating approaches that deliver results to them.

I have rarely changed my mind through an argument.

I have frequently changed my mind through researched facts.

I have mostly changed my mind through new approaches that deliver results.

If arguments are so ineffective, why do I argue?

I use argument as a porous rock, to sharpen my intellectual knife.

If facts are rarely effective, why do I bother?

Gibson’s law – “For every PhD, there is an equal and opposite PhD”. I provide facts so as to freely receive counter-facts.

If demonstrable results are so effective, why don’t you just focus all your energy on that?

I am human. Our species are notorious for poor choices in spite of available data. Bear with me.
