When people introduce themselves as Muslim to me, I instinctively look at their foreheads, searching for the dark spot that comes with daily prayer.
It has made me see, that to understand what people prioritise or are inclined to, look to their scars.
If in spite of a scar, people keep going, then the scar is not a sign of healing, but a tattoo of what they hold dear.
This is why when people tell their stories, the scars hold deeper insight into their being.
