Meditation is listening

That is all it is. Listening to yourself. All the chatter. And when you truly listen, the chatter stops.

Our minds keep screaming and hopping in various directions because we are not listening to it. And like an ignored child, it uses chaos to draw attention or embarrass you in public.

I have found that when I make time to listen to myself, there is an inner calm that ensues, creating space for me to listen to others.

We listen to others in the same measure that we listen to ourselves. To listen to others better, start with listening to yourself better.

Meditate. Listen to yourself. It calms the storms within and stills the storms without.

Hail Mary

Luke 1:39-45
In those days Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a city of Judah, and she entered the house of Zechari’ah and greeted Elizabeth.
And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And why is this granted me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For behold, when the voice of your greeting came to my ears, the babe in my womb leaped for joy. And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfilment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.”

Homily:

Whenever I read this passage, a Catholic prayer comes to mind –

Hail Mary

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners, now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
