Adventure

Adventure needs no planning, just utility.

You just landed a new job, meeting new people, using new processes and delivering new products.

You have not yet arrived, yet you have all the plans on what you’re going to do when you get there. You start asking questions about the people, the processes, the products. You start building biases and desires. You do not want any surprises. You start missing the point.

Don’t you see that this is an adventure? You need to be there first. You need to be wowed. You need to be lost. You need to figure it out. That’s the point.

For most leaders, what they see in their new institution, is only what they picked up before getting there. And as charlatans urgently need proximity to thrive, charlatans come closer and eclipse the leader’s blind spots.

Arrive, and let all the preparation life has offered you in past experiences, be your utility. You have always desired a new adventure, yet now, with this opportunity, you are playing catch up with reality and holding on to convictions that require a healthy dose of authority to stand.

The people, processes and products will reveal themselves to you, for what they are, only if you come without a mask.

Adventure needs no planning, just utility.

When you are on ground, cover ground.
