Colossians 3:1-4
If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
Homily:
Think about death in its essence and you will find a total letting go of all earthly treasures and surrender to a unique relationship with your Creator. No one else really knows what that new relationship is. Just you.
There are some questions people use to try and unearth other people’s priorities –
What keeps you up at night?
What is your first thought in the morning?
What thought puts you to bed?
Within the answer to each question is a pointer to your god or God.
I have found that as we reduce our physical needs, we reduce the worry that comes with them. Nature abhors vacuum. In the place where physical needs used to occupy, a spiritual connection begins to grow.
Let go of the things that time destroys and pay attention to the things that time nurtures. Arise.
