Perfectly designed

On my banking app, if I am inactive for 3 mins, I automatically get logged off. I have been conditioned to prepare all I will need for whatever I want to do on the app and pay attention whenever I get on the app, because even though the process of logging back on is pretty easy, getting logged off is a major irritant.

The activity-based connection basically says, “Actively engage or you’re out”.

I think many relationships can improve with the same logic.

When someone is in any kind of relationship with you, there can be some value in making it clear that the person is either fully actively engaged or you will log them out. It is not out of hate. They can always log back in when they are better prepared and tuned-in, but at any point where they are distracted by other choices, you log them out.

People treat you how you want to be treated. It might sound antithetical, but it is true.

Your life is perfectly designed for the treatment you get. If you want to change how people treat you, tweak areas in your design. A good first step is to log out those that do not prioritize you.
