Know, before you lean

Try not to lean on a tree that is not standing firmly, a tree without deep roots, a brittle tree, a fragile tree, a hollow tree, a shrub that looks like a tree.

If you lean, your fall will be worse than if you fell without anything to lean on.

Know the tree before you have a need to lean. Some trees only serve as ephemeral markers, not perennial anchors.
