It is here today

I know this feeling. It comes pretty often. I never welcome it, but it never leaves in a hurry. The harder I struggle with it, the deeper it digs in. I do not yet know what to do when it arrives and I do not yet know how to ignore it, or maybe it is neither to be dealt with nor ignored. It is here again, it will be here for a while. I have learnt to keep it within, I cannot afford to let it out into the lives of others. I know how destructive it can be and I think I am built to handle it, because I create faster than it can destroy. I do not know it by name, it hates name calling. Too many people label it, that is how humanity has developed, by labeling, but all labels show a lack of understanding. It is here today, I do not know when it will be gone, but it is here today.

A psalm

Psalms 71:1-6, 15, 17
In thee, O LORD, do I take refuge; let me never be put to shame! In thy righteousness deliver me and rescue me; incline thy ear to me, and save me! Be thou to me a rock of refuge, a strong fortress, to save me, for thou art my rock and my fortress. Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and cruel man. For thou, O Lord, art my hope, my trust, O LORD, from my youth. Upon thee I have leaned from my birth; thou art he who took me from my mother’s womb. My praise is continually of thee. My mouth will tell of thy righteous acts, of thy deeds of salvation all the day, for their number is past my knowledge. O God, from my youth thou hast taught me, and I still proclaim thy wondrous deeds.

Homily:

The psalms hold a prayer for every season.
