Near good feeling

Snoozing feels good when you shouldn’t be doing it, and only just at the start of it. Then you regret it, and the regret lasts longer. But you do it again in the future anyway.

Binging feels good when you shouldn’t be doing it, and only just at the start of it. Then you regret it, and the regret lasts longer. But you do it again in the future anyway.

Cheating feels good when you shouldn’t be doing it, and only just at the start of it. Then you regret it, and the regret lasts longer. But you do it again in the future anyway.

The near good feeling is always a greater lure than the far regret, and even when you choose to avoid the far regret, no memorable good feeling follows. Or so it seems.

Learn to consciously reward yourself promptly with things you love, for choosing to avoid the far regret. Use the hack of near good feeling in your favour.
