Today, coming home felt different, again.
Nobody running to the door to welcome me with an “I am never letting go” hug. Nobody giving me any “I will drown you in sweetness” kisses. Nobody asking me questions about my day, with excitement at every detail. (And when I do not feel like sharing, I am sent to the bathroom to freshen up before my meal.)
I got back home today, and the rush of energy that comes from opening the door did not arrive. I just walked into an empty house with a full heart.
Then I got to my room, and her scent welcomed me. I smiled. She is still here after all. She might have travelled, but she is still here. I looked at her painting and she smiled at me. She is still here after all.
I am thankful for my wife, and the home we are building together.

Projects
There are people that have made significant change in their lives through new year resolutions. Many return to their usual patterns, but there are some that course correct with a new year resolution.
In my life, I have found more value in using a project approach, than a resolution approach.
Unlike a resolution, a project has a defined end date. An end date, just like death, increases sense of urgency, commitment, care and courage. It also helps you find a way to track progress.
If resolutions have not worked for you, try the project approach.
Let each project mark a phase in your life’s journey.
