Today, I saw a colleague with his face buried in his palms on the table.
He is not the type to slack off, so I stepped into his office to check up on him. On raising his head, I noticed he was crying. The kind of crying that comes from a place of deep pain.
I asked what was wrong, but he would not say. He said it was personal. I reassured him that no matter what it was, he should know that crying was the right reaction. And that anytime he feels like sharing, I am here.
When he is ready, I will offer my ears and my heart.
People go through things that we will remain largely clueless about. Including those that seem invincible.
Be kind.
I am thankful for vulnerability. It presents an opportunity to connect deeply.
