Be there

Today, I travelled to attend the burial ceremony of a colleague’s dad. All canopies had the names of the various groups expected. We were not expected.

Our colleague had thought that since it was a work day and smack in the afternoon, just after an audit, we would rather be at work than by his side.

We just took the initiative to occupy a canopy labelled family, because that was what best described us.

He was so happy and showed us around his hometown, visiting his relatives too.

When people in your care go through life’s peaks or valleys, be there.

I am thankful I was there.
