There is a thought I have had for a while.
“Everything works. Not everything applies.”
What distinguishes things in our lives is not whether they work or not, it is whether they serve us or not.
If it serves us, it works and applies.
If it does not serve us, it works but does not apply.
The tragedy in life is when a human tries to stick with what works, but does not apply.
Like petulant children, we resist when what works does not apply to us.
Like joyful children, we accept when what works applies to us.
Whether it is in spirituality, health, finances, undertakings or relationships, a search for meaning is not a search for what works, but a search for what applies.
