Today, I woke up to the news of Sound Sultan’s passing.
Like a true fighter, he kept his personal battles close to his chest, and used his platform to teach timeless lessons instead.
A friend introduced me to Sound Sultan 22 years ago. We still had cassettes then, and were just embracing CD players. I had his full album on a cassette, and it was a regular in my sound system.
He was also quite a comedian, offering uncomfortable truths with a healthy dose of laughter.
Time on earth is relative. I do not know what a long life is, but I know what a rich life is. He lived a rich life.
I am thankful he was able to share his truth in ways that will outlive him.
