Judgment

Today, I saw someone in the car next to mine eating an egg. I smiled knowing if he was sitting next to me, I would be repulsed by it.

Not that I hate hard-boiled eggs, but I can only stand the smell if I am also having one.

The same applies to quite a number of foods and beverages. I hate the smell when someone next to me is eating or drinking them, but I don’t notice the smell when I am also indulging in them.

The same thing applies to a number of activities on which I pass judgment. I judge others when they indulge in them, and show more understanding when I am also involved.

I am thankful for times I delay judgment, and show more understanding.

Trust

People struggle with trusting themselves. They let themselves down too often. It gets harder to live with yourself the longer you fail yourself.

Many find solace in judging the failings of others.
Few find solace in self-empathy.

You have more people trying to heal from self-hurt than from any hurt caused by others.

When someone does not trust you, it is easy to judge them, but if people knew all of you, would you advise them to trust you?

One of the biggest risks an individual takes is to trust another. Yet it is the biggest leverage humanity has.

To build self-empathy, we must trust in another.
