Playback

Today, I attended the wedding of a colleague.

Married people should attend weddings often, as a reminder of the vows they took, and the crosses they chose.

On your wedding day, you seem to be in a trance from start to finish. An unconconscious participant in one of the most important decisions of your life.

But going for other people’s weddings after marriage helps with perspective, and if you’re lucky, you get a priest that helps you feel the rose petals again, not just the pinch of its thorns.

It is always beautiful to see two people become one. I wish Mary and Noah the joy of true companionship.

I am thankful for life’s playback opportunities.
