Today, I was caught in the middle of a debate between two strong personalities.
The more articulate one was wrong, but his diction was so good, I noticed he was winning the cheers. Let’s call him “Cree.”
The less articulate one was right, but he was getting frustrated that everyone could not see it. Let’s call him “Bree.”
Bree looked to me for help, but was greeted with a familiar smile. He immediately knew I was not stepping in.
Then something strange happened. Bree stopped putting forward his argument. Instead he started asking Cree questions, and the answers provided revealed the flaws in Cree’s argument. He basically used Cree’s strength against him. The more Cree talked, the deeper the hole he was digging. A judo move.
I am thankful for the limitless power of questions.
